Working with Forest Light
Read the background first: look behind the subject for simpler tones, colours and distance. A small change of position can matter more than a different lens.
Work with low light: woodland is not always bright. Check shutter speed and stability, use trunks and shadows, and avoid changing the scene with strong lights or lures.
Include the environment: record woodland edge, streams and canopy as well as close details. Different views describe the setting of an encounter.
Review in the field: inspect focus, then consider the whole composition. Look for meaningful changes rather than repeating the same frame endlessly.
