Respectful Wildlife Observation: article image

Give wildlife space Avoid surrounding, following or suddenly approaching animals. If an animal changes its behaviour because people are present, move back or stop photographing. Use focal length and composition rather than making wildlife accommodate the camera.

Respect habitats and access Use only permitted roads and trails. Do not feed or lure animals, or move plants, nests or nesting material. Take particular care during breeding periods. Carry out litter and limit noise and artificial light.

Share responsibly Avoid publishing sensitive locations, nests or precise positions of vulnerable wildlife. Record the conditions and observation process without describing a chance encounter as a guaranteed experience.
